My Conversion Copywriting Process

This is how I combine deep, strategic research and killer writing chops to meet deadlines and deliver thoughtful conversion-optimised copy for your business.

1. Quick Connect 📞

Whether a friend connected us or you stumbled upon my website (great taste, by the way!), you’re clearly interested in making a change. Go ahead, submit that form or email me at hello@ambikabhan.com.

I’ll personally respond to your initial inquiry within 48 hours. You’ll get more than just an automated response—I’m here to get to know your story and understand your unique needs. Because, let’s face it, your business isn’t generic, nor is my approach.

Note: Before we meet, please answer a few quick questions so I can get some context and determine if we’re a good fit.

☕📞 30 min coffee chat

If we seem like a good fit, I’ll schedule an introductory call—completely free. We’ll discuss your project, timeline, and estimated budget in a relaxed, pressure-free environment.

2. Proposal and Investment 💰🛣️

Now that I know your needs and what I can do, it’s time to talk shop.

I’ll send you a brief proposal that outlines the following:

  • The scope of the project.
  • The expectations that need to be met by you and me for this project to be a success.
  • A list of copy assets that I’ll deliver.
  • The earliest start date I can offer if you confirm today.
  • Project quote with a clear breakdown of the project cost with no hidden fees.
  • A request for you to approve and e sign the proposal.

🗓️📍 Secure your spot

A 50% upfront payment is required to lock in your earliest start date. I need this to confirm and reserve your date and start the work. This secures my time and gives me the confidence to say “thank you, but no thanks” to other projects, giving you my undivided focus.

I’ll send you an invoice and you can pay securely with credit cards or wire transfer.

3. Discover & Research🕵️‍♀️💡

Now that we have a plan and you’ve said yes, let’s get the ball rolling.

💻👁️⃤ Copy Kick-Off Call - 90 min

Even before I write a single word, I’ll gather as much information as possible about your customers, offers, and competitors.

To do this, we get on a 90-minute immersive kick-off call where we go through my deep dive questionnaire.

We dig into what your customer story is, what your story is, the juicy bits about your business, your customers and product/service.

Note : I’ll be fully present and capture everything with a transcript highlighting what matters. This will come in super handy whenever you work with other freelancers and new teammates.

Brand Story:

Tell me all about the amazing path that led you here – how and why your business started and the values that drive you and your team.

Product/Service:

Reveal the details of your solution and core offer. What problem do you solve, and how do you solve it? What makes you tick?

Competition:

Dissect your competitors’ messaging and positioning to find the gaps that can make you stand out.

The Customer Spotlight:

This is the most essential part. What makes your customers rave about your solution? How do they talk about their problems, the exact words they use to define their experience, pain, and expectations of a solution?

Customer Interviews

I’ll interview 3 of your existing customers (as soon as you put me through them), focusing on their buyer journey and core drivers. You can also send over any sales calls, demo calls, or similar material you have. If you have the data and heat maps to identify how users interact with your website, that’s super helpful, too.

With my detective hat on, I’ll go further into the depths of the internet land to mine for reviews and conversations on Amazon, g2, edit, quora, YouTube you name it…

So, I know exactly what to say to turn visitors into leads and leads into customers.

Note: You get a transcript of each interview, with highlighted notes for future use.

4. Writing, Wireframing and Editing 🪶

At this point, I’ve gathered all the fodder I need to start. It’s time for you to sit back and let me do the work.

Structuring and Planning:

  • To kick off, I will organize and map out the content, sending you a preliminary outline for approval to avoid confusion down the line.

Writing Process:

  • Throughout the writing phase, I will take into account your target audience’s level of awareness, the initial brief we discussed, as well as your brand’s tone and character.

Revisions:

  • You are entitled to two complimentary rounds of revisions within the specified timeframe in the proposal, as long as the modifications stay in line with the approved outline.

5. Delivery and Launch 🎉🚀

I’ll present it with a wireframe/mockup. I’ll also add a loom walkthrough for your creative team or person to implement.

Your design and development crew now has the final copy and implementation vision. They’ll love you for this while adding their own creative eye to make it shine before it hits the web.

Once YOU are happy with how your copy looks in the mockups, it’s launch time. That means your website, complete with my copy, goes live for the world to see.

6.Validation and Experimentation🔮👩‍🔬

The thing is, copy is not magic. It’s part science, part art. So once I hand off the copy to you, you must test it.

During testing, you’ll get a lot of insights about how the site/copy is performing and how the users are interacting with it.

If you are already doing it, kudos. If not, you may be missing out on many conversion opportunities. We must test to eliminate any ambiguous, clunky, or poor-performing copy.

Want me to run these tests and make changes based on the results, do let me know, and we can chat about that.*
